2012 and Beyond ...

Continuation of a journey

Canada

Sample imageMarch 14, 2012 - A cold, rainy evening greeted me upon my return to Vancouver from Thailand, testament to the fact it's good to leave this place for a few months to not grow mold. Preparations are kicking into high gear. Jan will land here in a month or so, so it's getting close.

March 29, 2012 - It's still cold and rainy. It snowed on Siskiyous Pass the other day, which is very late in the year. Exactly a month from now, we will be under way. Slowly I am wrapping up life here for the foreseeable future and it certainly is not as simple as I had imagined. The smallest details seem to take forever, whereas some of the bigger issues fall into place with ease. The next four days will be spent with good friends in White Salmon and then it's full steam ahead on emptying my place and moving life into a storage locker of 5 by 10 by 10 feet. It'll be hard to let go of this place after six years, with countless sunsets enjoyed.

The picture below was taken from the kitchen window.

April 19, 2012 - Jan arrived last night and today one of the first orders of business was to post bail for his motorcycle. We swiftly collected the necessary stamps at Customs and in little time the bike was delivered in all its shrink-wrapped glory to us.

An inordinate amount of time was spent trying to figure out how to release the strap buckles, but once that was completed we were on our way.

The tedium of preparing for world travel is in full swing. I managed to shove an entire 2 bedroom apartment into a 5 X 10 X 10 storage locker over the last week. A flurry of hastily arranged last-minute social events provide markers to the end of my stay here in Vancouver. Very little time is left to reflect quietly on what we want to see and do in the next few years. The key thing is that we set the rhythm at "slow" from day one.
